Entry of SWPU Engineering Disciplines into Top 1% of ESI World Ranking

According to the latest data of Clarivate Analytics’ ESI (Essential Science Indicators, abbreviated as ESI) database updated on Nov. 9, 2017, SWPU engineering disciplines are listed as the world’s top 1% universities and research institutes of ESI ranking, signifying that the engineering disciplines of our university have reached an international high level.

During this ESI data collection period (Jan. 1, 2007 - Aug. 31, 2017), the engineering disciplines of our university have published 843 SCI papers (only articles and reviews were counted) with a total of 2186 citations.

ESI is a basic evaluation and assessment tool for measuring scientific research performances and tracking the development trend of science introduced in 2001 by ISI (The Institute for Scientific Information), a world leading academic information publishing agency.

ESI has become a widely-used important indicator for evaluating the academic level and global influence of universities and academic institutions in the world. Chinese education authorities also adopt ESI as an important indicator for evaluating the development level of disciplines in universities.
